The Foundation for Black Heritage and Culture is a Black-founded and led nonprofit organization committed to preserving, uplifting, and advancing the vibrant legacy of African American culture. Anchored in three core pillars — Education, Health Equity, and Community — the Foundation exists to create access, build opportunity, and inspire pride across generations.
We serve Black individuals and families throughout Greater Houston, with a specific focus on underserved communities disproportionately affected by food insecurity, health disparities, and social.isolation. Cultural arts play a vital role in our work, allowing us to celebrate Black creativity, expression, and legacy through events like Black Heritage Fest and other arts-centered programming.
Our work is rooted in the belief that by addressing the root causes of these systemic issues — and amplifying the power within o.ur communities — we can create sustainable pathways toward healing, growth, and generational success.
At our core, we are builders: of community, culture, and collective legacy. Whether through neighborhood health fairs, cultural festivals, or year-round youth support, we design every initiative to reflect the fullness of Black life — past, present, and future.
To preserve, uplift, and advance the vibrant legacy of African American culture through education, health equity, cultural arts, and community-based programs that empower underserved youth and economically disadvantaged families.
To build a thriving, empowered community rooted in culture, care, and collective progress.
• Legacy: We honor our past to build our. future
• Equity: We fight for fair access to opportunities and resources
• Community: We believe in the power of connection, culture, and care
• Empowerment: We uplift voices, leadership, and purpose-driven progress
Supporting our communities across the Greater Houston area is at the core of everything that we do. We rely greatly on the contributions of our volunteers to make this happen year-round. FBHC volunteers come from all walks of life to help support several of the foundation’s programs, events, campaigns, and social initiatives.
